comments on a certain rant....

CYNTHIA M PUSHECK

Well, without commenting on the specifics of that post, I DO feel the need to respond to the sexism in the rant.

If a woman does well or gets ahead in this business, she probably f***k’d someone to get there. Right?
Haven’t we all been hearing that same old comment about any number of women for years and years?

Jealously about another man’s career advancement certainly doesn’t seem to elicit the same kind of vitriol or “slut shaming”.
But a woman, especially if she’s young and attractive — watch out!

Men are allowed to work, succeed, and fail, in this industry without judgement about who they get involved with sexually.
(Unless they’re attacked for being gay…which is equally offensive).

Perhaps we don’t need to worry about changing phrases like “Joan”, right now. Let’s just change the underlying sexism issues, instead!
And critique the work, not the person!

Thank you Cynthia,

A calm reasoned post that nobody can argue with.

Most unlike the the knee jerk PC posts I've received directly.

Pivoting a bit.

Yesterday on TV I saw a PSA for the Girl Scouts that included notable former members — including Ellen Kuras, ASC. Kudos!

The Girl Scouts are much cooler than the crypto-fascist Boy Scouts.
