Thanks for sharing you test.  I've been interested in these lenses.  How did you like the physical build of these lenses?

Thanks!

The lenses are very light but also solid, the zoom and T focus rings have the perfect pressure, neither too soft nor too hard. The front diameter is the same in both zooms as the length of them, it is easy to exchange them.

Dear Alfonso,

Thank you for doing this test! I just got my MK zooms and I'm excited to start using them. I don't think my test will be quite so involved, but I do want to see how well they perform.

Best,

-Mark Sasahara, DP, NYC

Great tests Alfonso!

I have been playing with these lenses - DISCLAIMER Fuji Canada sent me an 18-55 to test, and I ended up keeping it and buying the 50-135.

I've been too busy to do any rigorous testing, but on a documentary project I've had the 18-55 on a B camera (FS7) while my Cabrio 19-90 was on the A camera (F55).  I've actually been shocked by how little difference I can see in real-world footage between these lenses - and my B-camera operator was laughing at me when I put down my camera to rest after shooting handheld :)

The weight of these lenses is astounding.  The physical build is solid, which feels weird in such a lightweight piece of glass.   I'm assuming some materials/manufacturing compromises were required to get that weight down, butI think only a couple of years of hard use will tell whether or not there's any weakness there after the lenses take a beating.

Certainly with testing you can see all of the flaws Alfonso's testing has shown - which I think are remarkably minor considering the cost and size/weight of the lenses.  Maybe I'm lucky, but I haven't noticed much chromatic aberration in the footage we've shot.  Certainly something I'll keep my eye on.
