20x20 butterfly & silk

Donald Mitchell

I might need to rent (or buy) a 20x20 butterfly and silk for a 2 week shoot.

I’m getting a rental quote from Panalux in Glasgow - any other places that might be good? (I’m in Scotland).

It might be better value to buy though.

Buying wise, so far I’ve found a Matthews product and a Kupo Product, any others I should know about?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Donald,

Have you tried the guys at Take2 in Glasgow (former VI Rental)? Very nice folks and can probably sort what you need.

Best

A great source also is Muraro of Italy - the manufacture customized stands, clamps, etc. Similar to Manfrotto but smaller and still a family owned business.
I know that they do extendable, round tube Butterflies but I wonder whether they do 20x20 - 12x12 (which is at the same time a 6x6 if not extended) they do for sure.

Hi,

I would check textiles from Daylight Grip & Textiles http://www.daylightgriptex.com/ or The Rag Place www.theragplace.com
For the frame I would source locally aluminum pipe = speed rail (either 1-1/4 = 42mm or 1-1/2 = 48mm) and corners and ears from Matthews or Modern Studio Equipment and you’ll get best deal for your money.
