Guidance on requesting quotes in the States

adam@...

Edited

Hi I am looking to commission two days of filming in two states in the US next month.

Do you have any tips on how best to post to ask for this? I need a speedy response, a showreel, and a cost.

Anyone have any ideas and which part of this site I should use?

Glad this is the part of the site where 'there are no stupid questions'!

Adam,

If you don’t have any connections in whatever states you need people in (unless you can find people via this list), there are a couple sites I’ve been hired through that seem decent. One is Videopixie and the other Smartshoot.

Just a couple suggestions but I’m happy to do what I can to help, so feel free to get in touch.

I’d suggest asking in crew and kit…

The rules are on the main announcements list page https://cml.news/g/cml-announcements/topics  and on www.cinematography.net

I hope that we can help you find what you are looking for.

I'd suggest starting with Mandy.  It's pretty huge.  I've used it to find both actors and crew.  Tons of listings.

This is a list for working professional cinematographers, as such it is mainly email based.

80% of traffic is via email so no, I can’t move a message, it’s already gone out.

The 80/20 Pareto rule is interesting, I always found that 80% of my work came from 20% of my clients and so on.

I also find that 80% of the hassle of running these lists comes from the 20% who use the web interface…
