Multi camera screen grabs on set

Lachlan Milne ACS

Hi all,

I'd love to hear peoples recommendations on a small/portable HD SDI vision switcher. I'm working on a multi camera show and need to take frame grabs during takes on my laptop for DIT notes. I have the Black Magic Ultra Studio HD that gives one channel, but i need at least 2. I'd take up to 4 inputs if it came in the same size but not crucial. Again, the smaller the better.

Many thanks,

The Panasonic AW-HS50N is small, light and will do what you need, I
think. Plus a whole lot of other stuff. Might be too expensive at around
$3.5K, though.

I think what your are looking for is the Black Magic Atem Studio HD which is US$1000
Unlike the previous model, which could only be controlled from a laptop, this one has front panel switcher buttons for basic operation, Or you can access the more sophisticated vision mixer functions through the laptop app UI.

I just realized that it’s possible the unit I recommended may only take basic broadcast HD formats over SDI 1080 50/60i  720p 50/60p
I have the older model, and it has that limitation.
I would double check that before ordering one.
