New LUT experiment downloadable files

Geoff Boyle

I’m experimenting with using Resolve to generate onset LUTs that include the ACES process, they’re like the ones I did last year with Nick Shaw but in Resolve in Windows as the generator instead of Prelight on a Mac.

The first 3 are Alexa ones and reproduce 3 different looks. All reproduce the look of going through ACES but they’re different contrasts.

There’s a normal one https://cmltests/lut/Alexa_ACES_Basic.cube

Then a Low contrast one https://cmltests/lut/Alexa_LowCon.cube

Finally one with the contrast increased so that the values of the Kodak Grey scale match the levels listed on the back of the chart https://cmltests/lut/Alexa_ACES_Kodak.cube it’s a pretty punchy look.

They all take the log signal in and give you 709 out.

Clicking on any of the links will download it for you.

Let me know if they work and I’ll make them for all cameras.

Thanks Geoff, but for some reason, those links are not downloadable for me because Safari can’t find the server “cmltests”.
Has anyone else had this problem, or is this something I need to work out on my end?

OK, I should have included…right click and you’ll get…save as…

However, there is now a link on the main cmltests site and that leads to https://cmltests.net/ACES-LUTS.html you still need to right click!

I’ll add the right click info to the page in the morning.

I’ve checked with Chrome, Opera & Firefox.

My MacBook is packed away.

My fault for not mentioning right click, oh and cmltests doesn’t have a www prefix. It’s just https://cmltests.net/

Interesting,  it's not a matter of right click,  we can't even get to the site.

Updated now to include Basic, Low Con & Kodak for Alexa, BMD, Varicam & Venice. I can’t add RED until we sort out their ACES issues.

Not a camera used much these days but since I own it, the F5. I know it's the same sensor as the FS7 but LUTs for it seem to be different....or come out differently.

Cheer Geoff

By the way if anyone is having difficulty still downloading on Mac don't use Firefox, it thinks it's a text file. Safari worked for me, "Download linked file as" should generate a cube file.

I’m not sure really, the one that’s there although it’s labelled Venice is really slog3 gamut3 cine or whatever they call it 😊

So it should work if the camera is in that mode.

Yeah, I realized it was more of wish for the list than a possible reality when I sent it.

Thanks for responding just the same...
