Panasonic S1H experience Contd.

Hi all, reposting properly this topic here. Apologies to Geoff, I did. It even notice the original posted to lighting.

Thank you to the group who have responded already. I’m interested in hearing from anyone who has experience with the S1H. I’m considering this as a potential new B cam to my Varicam LT if and when the world stats turning again. currently using an Ar7. S1H and Varicam will match just great but what else is there to know? Plus and minus, watch outs..

thank you.

I believe the AG Dok crowd did a big test at the beginning of the week including the S1H and the EVA1. So they are worth contacting. I know Cristopher Rowe was involved and occasionally posts on here.

I got one recently in order to use as C-Cam on a show shooting 2 Alexas for the BBC,

now that we have a lot of time on our hands I would run a simple latitude test these days.

Anything special anyone wants to see?

all the best,

I picked up an S1H to complement my EVA. Also happy to perform requested tests. Unfortunately no Varicam body in my house though.

I'm all thumbs these days with my typing ...let me slow down a bit. Thank you everyone for the responses.

Colin, I'll check out AG Dok. Great site.

David, I'd welcome your insight into the "work-a-day" functionality of image stabilization and reliability/effectiveness of auto focus.

Xiaosu, Your opinion on latitude in context of Alexa would be really interesting to me. More of a curiosity at this point. I was going to purchase a used Alexa - Was my first choice until client demand on a large project insisted on 4k deliverable. Regardless, I'm very happy with the LT.

Thank you

The image stabilization is great, but I would not rely on autofocus at all. Granted, I do not own any native L-mount lenses, so I've only been using various Canon EF lenses via the Sigma MC21 EF>L adapter.

Thanks David, I have a set of vintage Nikkor primes I use on the LT. I generally work with a small teams and we all wear many hats...so the investment expands considerably when I consider adding up lenses but may be worth it for hassle factor in those moments when really moving the camera and pulling focus etc slow us down.

I have not heard if Panasonic are making an L- Mount for the Varicam. I need to look this up. If so, it would help justify the expense.

thank you for your response.
